Founderie Privacy Policy

Founderie is a founder and builder matching app. This policy explains what data we collect, how discovery, Syncs, messages, phone notifications, and read receipts work, and what controls you have.

What we collect

  • Account details such as your name, handle, email address, password hash, profile settings, and session state.
  • Profile content you choose to add, including headlines, bios, role intent, location, company idea details, skills, industries, links, photos, and videos.
  • Discovery activity such as pass and Sync decisions, compatibility notes, mutual Syncs, blocks, reports, notifications, and read receipts.
  • Messages you send after a mutual Sync, including timestamps and whether the message has been read.
  • Device and browser data needed to run the app, including cookies, basic logs, upload metadata, and push notification subscription tokens when you enable phone alerts.

How we use it

  • To operate discovery, recommend relevant builders, prevent people you blocked from appearing, and keep cold messages locked until a mutual Sync.
  • To show your profile, portfolio links, and media to other signed-in users when your account is discoverable.
  • To deliver Sync, message, and read-receipt features, including optional phone notifications for new matches and messages.
  • To protect the service through rate limits, authentication, abuse review, blocking, reporting, debugging, and security monitoring.
  • To improve Founderie during the MVP period using clearly marked test data and aggregate product feedback.

What other users see

  • Discoverable users may see your profile content, media, role intent, company idea details, links, location, skills, industries, and activity signals such as recent profile updates.
  • A mutual Sync can see your messages in that shared conversation and may see when messages they sent to you have been read.
  • Blocked users are removed from your discovery and message lists. They do not get a special notice that you blocked them.

Service providers and sharing

  • We use infrastructure providers to host the app, database, uploaded media, authentication sessions, logs, and optional browser push delivery.
  • We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • We may disclose information if needed for safety, fraud prevention, legal compliance, protecting rights, or responding to valid legal process.
  • If Founderie is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or asset transfer, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction with appropriate continuity protections.

Your controls

  • You can edit your profile, links, media, role intent, and discoverability in profile settings.
  • You can block or report another user from the app, and blocked users stay out of your discovery and messaging surfaces.
  • You can turn phone notifications off in Founderie settings or in your browser or phone notification settings.
  • You can request account deletion or a copy/correction of your data by contacting hello@founderie.app while the self-serve account deletion flow is being finished.

Retention and security

  • We keep account, profile, Sync, and message data while your account is active or as needed to operate the service, enforce safety decisions, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations.
  • Deleted or expired push subscriptions may be removed automatically when a browser or phone rejects delivery.
  • We use authentication, same-origin mutation checks, rate limits, upload restrictions, private database networking, and access controls to protect data. No internet service can be guaranteed completely secure.

Legal rights, children, and changes

  • Depending on where you live, you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, or limit certain uses of your personal information. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.
  • Founderie is intended for adults building or joining startups and is not intended for children under 18.
  • We may update this policy as Founderie changes. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date and, when appropriate, notifying users in the app.
